This historic little town was founded in 1883. Located at the foot of
the beautiful Rocky Mountains, Augusta serves as the gateway to both
the Lincoln Scapegoat and Bob Marshall Wilderness areas. Many pristine
lakes are just a short drive from town, and Elk Creek flows right
through the middle of it.
The last Sunday of June each year sees the little cowtown roar into action as host for the annual Legion rodeo, known far and wide as the "Wildest One-Day Show on Earth". If you want to experience what the Old West was really like, you won't find a better place to look for it than Augusta, Montana.
