Grain, Cattle and Oil. These form the town's official seal, and provide its solid economic backbone. The seat of Pondera County, the town is located in the heart of Montana's breadbasket. Grain elevators, including the new Anheuser-Busch malt-barley facility, make up the prairie skyline.

"Whoop-Up Days" each May provide the kickoff to Montana's rodeo circuit, as well as an opportunity for the townsfolk to celebrate Spring's arrival.

The public library is one of the best small-town libraries in the state, directly across the street from the unique art-deco styled courthouse.

A fine new outdoor swimming pool, and a well-maintained baseball complex provide ample summer recreation, as does the golf course at the edge of town.
