Nice picture; 180 degrees out of phase this year, though, selenically-speaking.....
Why is it that our Judeo-christian culture celebrates such grand pageants at the winter solstice, but none worth noting now? Is this a feature common to all agrarian societies in these latitudes? Too busy now taking maximum advantage of the sun's rays to have much time left over to plan a festival? Comparative anthropologists out there, please weigh in. We haven't planted a garden this year, due to the drought, so I have lots of time to mull such weighty matters....
How Do I?
