A Slice of Summer

These couple of weeks are about all we'll get for summer hereabouts, so I guess we'd better just stop bellyaching about the heat and soak it up while it's here. With a side-dish of some of this melon, it's mighty good stuff. Hey, does anyone still put salt on their melon? My Grandpa swore it made it taste sweeter; in parts of Southeast Asia certain melons are enjoyed to the fullest only when sprinkled with nuoc mam, a salty fish sauce.

Oh, by the way, we interrupt this culinary rant to acknowledge Kathleen McCallum, whom we have not seen before at Canada House.
